Kuala Lumpur 48 Hour Film Project (KL48HFP)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Registration Now Opens for the Kuala Lumpur 48 Hour Film Project 2011

KUALA LUMPUR, 18 August 2011 - The Kuala Lumpur 48 Hour Film Project (KL48HFP) is back for its second year!

Kuala Lumpur filmmakers will have a 48 hour weekend to create an entire film as they compete for a chance to screen their films around the world. The 48 Hour Film Project is the oldest and largest time based film competition in the world.

Registration is now open with early registration price at RM 350 until 3 October 2011. The normal registration fee is RM400.

The Kuala Lumpur 48 Hour Film Project’s filmmaking teams will begin at 9:00 pm on a Friday, 28 October 2011, and deliver a finished four to seven minute film not later than 9:00 pm Sunday, 30 October 2011. Each team is assigned a genre, character, prop, and line of dialogue that they must work into their film. They are responsible for putting together a cast and crew, and getting equipment and anything else necessary to make a movie in just a weekend. Any team, regardless of skill level, is eligible to participate in this competition. The filming teams will have only 48 hours to write, shoot and edit their film.

It was a humble beginning for the first version of KL 48 Hour Film Project (KL48HFP) in 2010. Albeit all those, it had garnered the most number of participants for the first time city with 39 teams vied to be the first city winner. This year, the competition will be more intense as last year competing teams are planning for a comeback and we are not short of new contenders,” said Shahril Fahazmi Musa, the City Producer for KL48HFP.

The Best Film for Kuala Lumpur not only will represent Malaysia to compete in Filmapalooza 2012, which is the Annual Awards for 48 Hour Film Project. The two team representatives from the winning team will also be privileged to attend Filmapalooza which will be held in Taos, New Mexico in the United States of America in conjunction with the Taos Shortz Film Fest.

For 2010, the 13 Best films from the Filmapalooza 2011 were then selected to screen at Cannes Film Festival 2011 Short Film Corner.

For a complete event schedule and instructions on how to participate and register, please visit: www.kl48hourfilm.com or facebook page at www.facebook.com/kl48hourfilmproject or follow us on twitter at KL48HFP.
