MUFORS Road Reels Short Film Competition

"MUFORS Road Reels" is a short film competition open to students of all universities, colleges and institutions of higher learning in Malaysia with the theme "Attitudes on Roads – A Malaysian Journey".

Students of institutions of higher learning can play their part in MUFORS by speaking out and capturing through their short films attitudes on Malaysian roads (positive or negative) that will contribute to a higher level of realization that road safety is in our hands, each and every person who uses the roads in Malaysia, and that road safety or the lack of it all boils down to ATTITUDE of individuals.

Objectives of MUFORS Road Reels

  • To give students of institutions of higher learning a platform i.e. short films to play their part in changing negative attitudes on Malaysian roads by capturing moments and messages that will reflect attitudes on Malaysian roads and how these attitudes are related to road accidents and deaths.

  • To enable students and institutions of higher learning to be part of MUFORS as agents of change in giving road safety advocacy a fresh approach by encouraging people from all walks of life to take ownership of road safety and specify “what my role is in promoting road safety and saving lives”.

Eco Film Fest 2010

For those who are passionate about the environment, the Eco Film Festival should be a feast for the senses.

Organised by Ecoknights , this annual event, which is in its third year, is an attraction for those who are drawn to award-winning enviromental films, organic and healthy food and beverages, environment-themed workshops and even unplugged performances.

"With the rising concern for the environment, Malaysians today are very keen and interested to learn more about sustainable living. Having said this, we are still lacking behind other countries in putting our knowledge into practice", said Yasmin Rasyid founder and president of non-governmental environmental organisation EcoKnights.

"With all the activities, workshops, films and entertainment line up during the festival, I hope that the festival goers will take home some key environmental messages and act on it immediately," added Yasmin.

The Eco Film Festival will be held at the Faculty of Economics and Administration, University Malaya from 11 to 17 October 2010.

The Star is one of the partners for the Eco Film Festival which is open to the public for free. For more information, log on to www.ecofilmfest.my.
